After many years of going to school and saying no to drugs I graduated with a degree!  Little did I know it would lead me to being beaten into the ground at the hands of a soulless corporation.  After 3 years I quit to play poker professionally.  I've now been full-time over 7 years, yet revenge is still in the air.  It's crazy to look back and realize I started this blog as I was simply 'pumping myself up' to quit the real world and go full time.  Now I also do some writing for fun as a 'day job' (some freelance and paid, but an insignificant sum compared to 5/10 live) and airbnb my place when I don't feel like playing as much.

Back From Vacation (7/27/2012)

After my last Vegas session I took a long 12 night vacation/break from poker.  This is by far the longest I've gone without playing since becoming pro.  I think the break was good for me.  I had a great time and my mind was not on the grind.  The break also allowed me to step back and evaluate where I am in my poker career compared to where I thought I would be.  At first I was really worried that for the first time I would have no desire or burn to come back and play.  Then I realized that doesn't matter much.  I might not love the game anymore, but I'm decent at what I do.  There is plenty of room for growth, which can give Baglife more freedom and capital.  And hell my job isn't so bad...

I'm not concerned about my volume or closing stats for the month of July.  I felt like I needed a break and I took it.  Besides, it would be somewhat late to be concerned with such things.  Especially considering I've logged only 52 hours and there are a mere 4 nights remaining in July.  I'm up just over 4k in the 50 hours, so the month isn't totally doomed.  If the month ended now 4k is enough to pay living expenses, save some, and I got two vacations in.

I'm planning to hit the weekend somewhat hard.  Hopefully I can log some steady volume while repressing the urge the go on a killing spree; where I would mass murder at least eight local 5/10 regulars with an axe.

Even if I don't go on the killing spree just yet I should at least have some good day-dreaming material while I'm looking for a game that isn't infested with nits and goofy looking waste of life regulars.

Sunday Updates From Vegas (7/15/2012)

It's been a full week and I still haven't left Vegas.  A companion and I have basically been bouncing around free rooms since Wednesday.  Right now I'm at the Palazzo, which is probably the nicest hotel room I've ever stayed in (at least during my adult life).  Check out is Monday, but I have Monday-Wednesday night booked at Harrah's for free.  Not sure when exactly I'm leaving yet, I think one of these days something will just click in my head and I'll feel it's time to go.

I'm really enjoying Vegas so far, I forgot how much I like it.  Everything is bigger and better.  The casinos are beautiful.  The weather is great for laying out by the pool.  And the girls are better looking and really somewhat thirsty.  Also, the hot asian girl per capita ratio (HAGR) is unreal.   Just UNREAL.

So far it's been a successful trip.  I've logged 37 hours of 5/10 and I'm up just over 4k on the cash games.  I also took a shot with the 2k satellite to try to get into the main.  I failed, but I had 50% of my action sold so I only lost 1k out of my pocket.  And fuck I had a chance to get into the main, why not right?

The action has been wayyyy better than Borgata, I've been impressed.  I've heard from several sources that the Vegas games have been drying up, but they have looked good to me.  Then again it's a really small sample size and I could have just been lucky.  I'm guessing they have somewhat dried up, but never during WSOP.  And even the off-peak times are still going to be better than the off-peak times at Borgata.  And I keep saying "Borgata" not AC because AC is Borgata for me, no other casino even gets a 5/10 game running.  Vegas is nice because you have lots of options for the high stakes.  I've checked out Wynn, Venetian, Bellagio, and Aria.  All of these casinos have nice stable high stake traffic.

I had trouble finding a worthwhile 5/10 on Friday and Saturday in particular.  Saturday I started looking at games around 4p.m.  By 12a.m I had switched tables and casions several times, logging only 5 hours for -260.  Finally around 2:30 a.m I found a great game and stayed until it broke up around 6:30 a.m.  During those 4 hours I forced volume and won $1200, finishing Saturday profit.

I'm done playing at least until Monday.  Tomorrow I'm planning on working out mandatory, I'm beginning to feel like shit from being away an entire week and not getting normal exercise.  At night I'm not sure what I'm going to do.  I might just go to a club or whatever.  But definitely no poker Sunday, I feel I need a break.  37 hours doesn't sound like much, but that doesn't include the countless hours switching casinos and hunting for action.  Not to mention it's sometimes common to not find a good game until 2a.m out here, so your schedule starts to get smashed.

Out for now, I like how I fought for the win today/tonight.  Wow it's 8 effing a.m.

Vegas Updates (7/12/2012)

Its been a meh trip so far but it certainly ain't over.

I came out here to do two main things

1) Play the 2k satellite to try to get into the main event.

2) Grind out high stakes 5/10 games that have better action.

I did play the satty and busted out. It was a bit of a shot but I do try to take those once or twice per year. I thought the satty had great value and I don't regret trying.

As for #2, I've only played 5/10 here and I've been impressed with the action. Sunday I finished down -1300 in 5 hours after taking a retarded 3 outer after getting all in on the turn.

Monday I played 9 hours and won 3k.

Tuesday I played 8 hours and lost -350.

Wednesday I went out and got quite drunk.

And here I am!

Planning to grind hard Friday-Sunday. I need to step up and fight for a good trip.

Updates, Plans, and Life (7/5/2012)

HOLA!

It's been a while I know.  I had a good 5/10 session on Saturday up about +$2500 where I truly played A game poker about 7 hours and picked up enough value spots that held up.  That session helped boast my monthly results.  I finished June up over 8k which is great, I'll take it.  Especially considering I only played about 125 hours.

I'm feeling ready to take on 5/10 and jump into any game that is juicy.  I'm trying to become not attached to the money as much.  I've always been a bankroll nit.  This helped me grow my bankroll and not go broke starting out.  But now I think it's holding me back some.  My bankroll is over 42k right now, so I'm planning to keep jumping high stakes games until I stabilize or drop to around 30k.  If I drop it's fine, but I have to make this push NOW.  I just feel the upside of stabilizing is too great to not take the risk.  So what I have a much better life 70% of the time?  And the other 30% I drop to 30k and I'm doing the same shit anyways.  Wtf am I going to wait for a 50k bankroll?  I just don't like it, I think I can beat the games I just need to work harder big-time.

In other news I sacrificed 4th of July like an idiot (one of the most profitable times to play) and hung out with a girl who visited Borgata.  I set her up with comp rooms.  Turns out she has a boyfriend, but STILL ACCEPTS A ROOM FROM A GUY SHE HUNG OUT WITH AT A CLUB ONE TIME.  I have to say I expected it.  Problem is I really like this one, she's Asian and 9/10 attractive (and I'm a damn tough grader).  I've been fiending for an Asian girl for some strange reason.  She also lives close to Manhattan so I can hit her up when I go up there.  She's also 21.  No way I'm going to not keep in contact with her every once in a while.  Not to mention she has a crew of Asian friends because they travel in packs.

Funniest message ever (from her):

"I lost all my cash :(  Would you be able to help me win my money back with poker by any chance"

Aka:  "I gambled my entire $125 AC trip roll playing roulette.  Is there anyway you can give me free money?"

Lol greatness...

Oh I'm leaving for Vegas Friday.  No clue when I'll be back.  Right now it will be a minimum of 6 nights out there.  I'm planning to hit up a 2k satellite to try to get into the main event.  Other than that just playing 5/10.

Unable To Sit (6/29/2012)

The past two nights I was unable to sit on 5/10, the games just looked dreadful all of Wednesday and Thursday night.  So I grinded 2/5 for about +$800 in the two nights.

If there looks to be some decent games this weekend I'm looking forward to jumping in high stakes.  Logically there should be at least ONE FUCKING decent game sometime between now and July 4th.

Not much to report.  Friends cleared out so I'm all poker until after July 4th.  After that I'm going on vacation a week.  I had a terrible 5/10 session last weekend where I made a mistake and dropped about -$1500, so net I'm just under 6k on the month.

I have a feeling some notable shit will go down before I leave on the tables.  Not sure if it will be good or bad.
