After many years of going to school and saying no to drugs I graduated with a degree!  Little did I know it would lead me to being beaten into the ground at the hands of a soulless corporation.  After 3 years I quit to play poker professionally.  I've now been full-time over 7 years, yet revenge is still in the air.  It's crazy to look back and realize I started this blog as I was simply 'pumping myself up' to quit the real world and go full time.  Now I also do some writing for fun as a 'day job' (some freelance and paid, but an insignificant sum compared to 5/10 live) and airbnb my place when I don't feel like playing as much.

Updates (7/3/2011 @ 6:00 a.m)

Weekly Results as of 7/3/2011

I have hit the grind hard since returning from vacation.  I put in a combined 25 hours Thursday-Saturday, up +$1760.  Thursday I had a great night ending up over 1300.  Additionally, I finally finished a net winning Friday session up +760, which isn’t a lot but a miracle for me considering my struggles on Fridays.  So Saturday should be easy right?  Well I came into my bread and butter Saturday session and ended up down -$340 for the night in 9 hours.  There was some good action, just card and situation dead for literally 9 hours straight.  Really didn’t pick up a lot of value hands.  JJ+, picked up twice in 9 hours.  JJ once, KK once.  Oh, and no sets, no straights, one flush where I won about $120.  I fought valiantly trying to steal some pots, but I mean I’m not a fucking magician.  I ended up getting looked up a lot at all the wrong times.  This makes sense, if you don’t get enough value situations on a Saturday night it’s going to be rather hard to win money sometimes.  I certainly have bizarre 8 hour periods where I’m situation/card dead and just trying to minimize losses by stealing during any feasible situation.  Saturday sucked, but I felt I played mistake free and remained disciplined.  Card and situation dead…..

My Schedule is Getting Screwed Up:

Each night I’ve been crawling in later and later.  Thursday it was 5 a.m, Friday it was 5:30 a.m, Saturday it’s 6:15 a.m as I type this sentence.  Something I should probably keep an eye on, but I wanted to grind 4th of July weekend as hard as possible.  I still have two more days if I can stay focused.  I’m hoping the action on Sunday will be like a normal Saturday with the 4th falling on a Monday.

The War of July:

I’m making it a goal to really bust my ass this month on the tables.  I’m going to push myself to the limits.  I can’t control what my net result is for the month.  However, I can build a massive sample size and say “I played this many hours and this is what happened”.  This is exactly what I expect to do.  I want my raw hours to increase this month.  Also, I have a week vacation planned in August, so all the more reason to really go nuts now.  I’m planning to be putting in 50 poker related hours per week (playing or studying).  I’ll probably be only going out once per week, also trying to stay active 2-3 times per week while eating healthy.  However, I want my raw hours on the table to be my primary focus for July.

I feel like a stock sometimes:

It’s like I’ve announced my IPO and my ticker is BAG.  This week looking good with a moderate bearish fluctuation on Saturday.  Investors cautiously recommending a buy:

“Somewhat cautious for the short-term because of the unexpected loss this Saturday.  How is it that such a fundamentally solid company could fail to increase their stock price on A SATURDAY NIGHT ENVIRONMENT?  It is a clear indicator of concern if a stock in this sector can’t manage to produce solid gains on a Saturday.  However, investors have noted that in this particular case there has been an astronomical value increase the previous four Saturdays, so let’s not jump the gun here.  Let’s just keep in mind that a Saturday losing streak could be a massive red flag!”

Cliff Notes:

1)  Weekly results decent so far, but fuck you Saturday.

2)  Schedule getting really screwed up.

3)  The war of July is underway.

4)  Investors currently giving Baglife Corp (Ticker: BAG) a 4 out of 5 star rating.  Schwab Equity rating has Baglife Corp at a “B”.  Reuter’s Research has the company listed as “Out-perform”.

5)  It’s 6:40 a.m WTF…
